YouTube has billions of daily visitors and it is one of the largest content platforms in digital life. At the same time, YouTube is a big income source for content creators. YouTube gives chance to anyone to make money on its video platform. You can create and upload your videos on YouTube and start to earn money.
YouTube makes various attempts to make content creators happier. We first met with YouTube Shorts 2 years ago and it is quite popular on YouTube. Data show that YouTube Shorts get around 30 billion views per day.
Until these days, it was not possible to make money through YouTube Shorts. However, it looks like this could change soon. The company aims to allow content creators to make money on YouTube Shorts.
According to a new report from The New York Times, YouTube plans to start ads in YouTube Shorts. Direct monetization option for YouTube Shorts would be very good news for short video content creators for their clips. This could mean a chance to get a revenue share for content creators on YouTube. The company plans to pay 45% of the ad revenue to Shorts creators.
If the company activates the feature that will allow it to make money, it would be a killer blow for TikTok. On the other hand, it will be very good for small content creators on YouTube. By doing this, YouTube could take short-form video leadership from TikTok.
At the same time, YouTube plans to reduce barriers to YouTube Partner Program to allow more people to earn money from YouTube ads. For example, you need to get a minimum of 4.000 total public watch hours and at least 1.000 subscribers on your channel to make money from YouTube ads. If YouTube allows content creators to make money on Shorts, these requirements will probably get lower.
