News: Netflix Releases Unseen Scene from Squid Game Season 1

Squid Game was one of the most watched shows of the last year. The popular Korean show first premiered in September of 2021 on the Netflix streaming platform. In the show, contestants compete in a deadly tournament to get the grand prize. 

It got stratospheric success from all over the world and it was watched for a ludicrous 2.2 billion hours by Netflix subscribers. The show made Emmy Awards history by becoming the first non-English-language show to win top Primetime Emmys.

Last week, the streaming platform shared an unseen scene from the first season of Squid Game at Netflix’s Tudum preview event in South Korea. The unseen clip shows the main villain frontman and a goldfish.

After showing the unseen clip, Hwang Dong-hyuk who is the director of the Squid Game said in a video message “I would like to thank all Netflix fans around the world again for the love Squid Game and please look forward to the second season, which will be filled with entirely new stories.”

Hwang added “But in the meantime, I’ve prepared a small gift for the fans waiting for Squid Game season two. Let’s take a look.” The video showed a man carrying goldfish in a bag of water down a corridor and entering the room.

According to the rumors, filming of the new episodes will begin in the next year and it is estimated that the second season will be released in 2024 on Netflix. There will be new characters in the second season, while the main characters from the first season such as Kang Sae-byeok and Hwang Jun-ho could return, despite they were killed in the first season.
