Former US President Donald Trump’s social media platform Truth Social has been blocked by Google Play. Here’s why!
Donald Trump has attempted to create his own social media platform after his Twitter account was suspended. This year, he launched his own social media network called Truth Social. It was created by Trump Media and Technology Group. However, the platform has not been successful.
According to the latest news from Google, the Truth Social app will not be available to download for Android users on the Google Play Store. Google says that Truth Social is banned for posts that contain physical threats and violence.
According to statistics, 44% of smartphone users in the United States use Android devices. This means almost half of the country will not have access to their former president’s social media platform. However, they can still visit the Truth Social website from web browsers.
Google announced last Tuesday, former US president Donald Trump’s social media network, Truth Social, failed to get approval from the Google Play Store. The reason was the violation of policies that prohibit content such as physical threats and violence.
Google spokesman stated that “On August 19, we reported several violations of standard policies to Truth Social. Having effective systems for moderating user-generated content is a condition of our terms of service for any app to be published on Google Play.” Google also says that Truth Social will not be available until the content issues are solved.
On the other hand, Devin Nunes who is the CEO of Trump Media and Technology Group said that it is up to Google to approve Truth Social on the Google Play Store not dependent on their policies.
However, Trump’s social media platform is available on App Store while Trump’s YouTube channel and Twitter account were suspended. Trump had around 90 million followers on Twitter but he has only 4 million followers on his own social media platform, Truth Social.
