Meryem Uzerli is a famous German-Turkish actress. She was born on August 12, 1982, in Kassel, Hesse, West Germany. She was raised in a multicultural family because Meryem’s grandmother is Croatian, her father is Turkish and her mother is German. Her full name is Meriem Sahra Uzerli. She is popularly known for portraying the “Hurrem Sultan” in the popular Turkish Tv series “Muhtesem Yuzyil” (The Magnificent Century).
At the age of 17, she studied acting and theater at Schauspiel Studio Frese in Germany and she took part in some tv series and theater while she was living in Germany. She has never been part of big projects in those years until she decided to move to Turkey to continue her acting career.
Her fame started to raise in 2011, when she played the character of Hurrem Sultan in the widely popular Turkish Tv series “The Magnificent Century” which is known as “Muhtesem Yuzyil” outside of Turkey. She has won many awards including “Best Actress”, “Tv Stars Special Award” and “Best Actress Award in Drama” for her successful acting in “The Magnificent Century”.
In 2013, she had to leave the series due to burnout syndrome. That year, she moved to Belin, Germany to take medical treatment. The beautiful actress married famous Turkish stockbroker Can Ateş, who was always with her during Meryem’s illness. Next year, she got pregnant and gave birth to her first child on February 10, 2014.
After giving birth, Uzerli decided to continue her acting career. In 2015, she played the leading role with Ozan Guven in the movie called “Annemin Yarası” which is produced by Necati Akpınar. After that, she took part in another tv series project named “Gecenin Kralicesi”.
Meryem Uzerli is 1.73 tall and has blue eyes with long ginger hair. Her native language is German but she speaks fluent English and Turkish. Currently, she is single. She broke up with her husband, Can Ates in 2014. Since the “Muhtesem Yuzyil”, she has been face of Elidor shampoo and Atasay jewelry.
